About Dancerooster Realize that what appears on Dancerooster, Cop Watch and Bad Cop News is but a drop in the bucket with respect to crimes by those in law enforcement. Often, officers are never charged despite guilt, instead they are allowed to retire, it's covered up and lied about by their own internal affairs department and forgotten. It's hidden from the local media, or local media coverage and never appears online or in a search engine. Consider this limited sampling that appears on sites like Dancerooster, Cop Watch and Bad Cop News, and try to tell us that this isn't an epidemic. Particularly, take note of the number of law enforcement officers arrested, charged with child molestation, sexual assault, lying, beatings, and killing unarmed citizens, and the court transcripts of cops that have commited purjury under oath, on duty, in uniform and in a court of law, just to name a few. It has brought to our attention by numerous law enfocement agencies and lobby groups, that it is Police and Sheriffs departments policy to cover up or hide anything that would embarrass a department or administration, unless the officers offence is caught on tape or by the news media. Some definitions, for the whiners who send email for us to ignore. Wetback - Immigrants come to the US legally, combining a "illegal" with "immigrant" conveys someone who came here illegally/legally, which isn't the case. Wetbacks, as in swimming the Rio Grande to gain entry, are criminals. Police Officer - Maybe an officer quit or was fired after committing an offense, but if he or she was an officer at the time, the term ˜Police Officer" is applied by Dancerooster and BCN. Criminal - Self explanatory. Pig- A cop that does not deserve to be in uniform. Cop Wannabe- Someone that wants to be a police officer, for some reason. Yes, we would like to see child molesters and most rapists killed or incarcerated forever. Yes, we think cops should be held to the highest standard of conduct and procescuted to the fullest extent of the law when they break it. Yes, we think that cops should receive the maximum sentence when convicted. Yes, we think convicted cops should be placed in the general prison population so they can live in fear of what the other prisoners are going to do to them, like we do when we have cops like these on the streets. Yes, we believe that a review board made up of citizens should preside over police officer review boards and decide guilt and punishment. Not their fellow cops. To allow them to police themselves is like having convicts run the prisons, their already there, why not let them? No, we don't care if you disagree, start your own blog if you want to share your opinion. No, we do not want to hear from you, get you own web site if you need a soap box. No one connected with these sites will respond to threats or comments made by assholes, pigs, pissed off cops, or their groupies, so don't bother. Feel free to sue, don't waste our time emailing or talking about it, just do it! While this and many sites would welcome the free publicity resulting from a lawsuit, ask your attorney to define "judgment-proof" before you start throwing money in a black hole. Also we have media connections that will carry the story about how the lying, perjuring, child molesting, criminal cop is suing a legitimate media source for exercising its free speech rights under the First Amendment. So go ahead, piss us off! No information on this site is to be considered legal advice. If you have a legal questions please contact an attorney. Can a public official sue for slander or libel? In 1964, the United States Supreme Court decided a landmark case, New York Times v. Sullivan, that prevents states from enacting libel laws that unduly restrict debate about public officials. But most states had such protections decades before the United States Supreme Court required them to. So how about a cop, could they sue my web site? Probably not, if you limit your comments to issues of public concern such as the crimes that they have actually committed or been accused or indicted for. Stories from the news media can also be repeated without worry. Public officials subject to the “actual malice” rule have included State prosecutors, police officers, deputy sheriffs, probation officers, and even members of grand juries. But, again, it is important to comment only on the public issue, not false un-provable statements. It's just a web site, get over it!
